You have to try this! It’s so easy to prepare your own refreshing foot scrub at home and there are infinite possibilities for scents and beautiful colours, plus it makes for a fantastic gift for family and friends!
Foot scrubs can be pricey but with only a few ingredients you can pamper yourself. Gentle exfoliation is a fabulous way to prepare your skin for summer by removing all the dead skin and leaving you with soft feet that you will be happy to display in your summer sandals. :)
Ok, the first thing you need to do is choose a salt to use (sea salt, Epsom or even plain old table salt will do). I used Dead Sea salt, simply because I had that at home. Pour the salt into a bowl – about 300g.
Next add olive oil to your salt (about 200g to start) and mix with a spoon. You can then adjust the consistency by adding more olive oil or salts.
Add a few drops of food colouring until you achieve the desired shade – I used green.
Then add a few drops of essential oils into the mixture and mix again with a spoon. Choose a scent that suits your tastes. Essential oils each have different qualities that will influence how you feel upon using them; some are invigorating, some are relaxing. I chose peppermint for my foot scrub as it is perfect for soothing and refreshing tired feet.
Other choices are orange, lavender, lemon, sandalwood, coconut and vanilla.
…. and voila you are ready to use!
Remember, these make wonderful gifts, so don’t forget to put them in jars and share with your friends! There’s a certain sentiment about receiving a homemade gift; it feels extra special, like giving someone the gift of soft invigorated feet.
Keep smiling :)
