Homemade fruity yoghurt ice lollies are an inexpensive and healthy alternative to the shop-bought kind and they taste yummy! There are so many variations to make – peaches, strawberries, apples, berries, bananas – whatever you fancy, just blend them with fruit juice or/and yoghurt. You could have fun with the kids this summer by trying them all and picking your favourites!
You can buy plastic lolly moulds or sticks quite cheaply from most supermarkets and also the pound shop.
Yesterday the sun shone (briefly!) on Barking, so I was inspired to make raspberry fruity yoghurt ice lollies.
Ingredients:
- fruit juice (apple, orange, tropical… whatever you fancy!)
- low fat raspberry yoghurt (any flavour is fine – Greek yoghurt with honey is a favourite usually)
- a handful of raspberries (you can choose any fruit you fancy)
- one banana
Place the raspberries, banana, yoghurt and fruit juice into a blender.
Blend until the fruit is chunky or smooth, as desired. It would have made a great smoothie but I wanted fruity yoghurt ice lollies! Divide the raspberry mixture between 4 ice lolly moulds. Put the cover on the top of each mould. Freeze for at least 4 hours, or until frozen solid.
Tip! Run under warm water to help you ease the lolly from the mould.
I enjoyed my fruity yoghurt dessert on a stick. They would be even more delicious on a hot day!…..If the sun ever visits again! Why not try…
- Using fat free yoghurt for an even more guilt free treat.
- Adding a few tablespoons of jam or even some honey for extra flavour/sweetness (if you use natural yoghurt).
- Making a two coloured lolly that the kids will love – try half filling the moulds with one flavour, letting them freeze and then adding a different flavour before returning to the freezer.
- Dipping the tips of the frozen ice lollies in melted chocolate, then quickly dip them in sugar balls or strands. The mixture will set quickly!
- Blending bananas with a small amount of honey and milk.
- Popping a slice of kiwi/some blueberries in each mould.
Have fun experimenting this summer!
Keep smiling :)
Claire

This sounds so delicious! I will definitely go make this someday (when I get a new blender, because the lid of my old one is nowhere to be found).

This looks great,I like the idea of the two coloured lolly. My daughter hates anything that is too cold, so I might have to make and eat them all!

These look delicious! I tried freezing low sugar angel delight the other day as I wanted an ice cream that would agree with my gestational diabetes but it failed and all stuck in the mould.

Ooh homemade lollies are the best. Although I don’t think we made any this year. It was all about the ice pops for my son!

Loving your style Claire. Although I would dispute fat free or low fat yogurt will make it healthier. Usually fat free/low fat = SUGAR. Stick to your full fat varieties any day X
