What brought a smile to your face this week?

My fibromyalgia pain was severe this week, I even had to leave work on Tuesday as it was unbearable and I couldn’t go in on Wednesday too. Last night I went to bed at 8pm as I couldn’t bear the pain any longer. However, this morning I’ve taken the time to reflect on my week and pick out the little things that brought a smile to my face.

The sunshine has been just fantastic, I have enjoyed not having to wear a coat x

I’ve PMd you some private ones Claire but ones I can post on here are:1. Eating on a small tub ice cream from the ice cream man. 2. Getting some lovely comments for what I did at work this week. 3. Trying on my high heels and wedge sandals without pain. 4. Making progress in my AT classes this week, despite my intermittent pain in my back during the class due to a bad flare up Friday morning. 5. My mum 6. My students. I hope that you feel better today.

  3. This week has been a great week mainly because it was my first full week back at work for the last 4 weeks due to annual leave and then the bank holiday. This might not make it onto other people’s list but it made me smile being back.

Your first Swiss roll looks perfect, well done! I love Swiss roll, it’s surprising how quick and simple it is to do until you do your first one 🙂

The nice weather always makes me feel happy. I’ve had a pretty pleasant weekend so that’s been a bonus! A nice way to finish off the week!

“Invictus Poem by William Ernest Henley:

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
    For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
    Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.”

Now I know what the phrase, ‘I am invictus’ (used at the invictus games) really means, I will remember it next time the pain kicks in.

  7. I love reading in the sunshine, sadly it’s not been warm enough this week to do it 🙁 x

Sorry to hear about your pain I can not even begin to imagine but loved how you sought out the positive in life. I am the same in that respect, so many things made me happy, returning to my apartment after my 2 week holiday.

  9. That smoothie sounds great and I also love the smell of fresh bread too, yum!!!!!

  10. Kira C says:

If I’m to be honest I’ve had a pretty hard going week so I haven’t been my usual smiley self. Eurovision made me smile though, or to be honest, the twitter comments during Eurovision!

  13. The sunshine always makes me smile. My bunnies make me so happy when they happy jump!

  14. Aw this is a lovely post, it’s so hard to forget to count the good things!

  15. I love to see posts like this, it’s great to see what makes others happy, mine would be the weather and the fact I am able to overcome my anxiety enough to get a job 🙂 x

  16. It’s always great to remember the little positive things that happen rather than mulling on the bad things 🙂 Your smoothie sounds delicious!

I have fibromyalgia too and I fully understand the effects it has on you. I hate how I can go to bed feeling great and next day the pain and fatigue are out of this world. I’m loving this sunny weather. Hope you manage to get some pain free days soon

  18. Lyn says:

My students and real power that comes from controlling the pain and spasms at long last (that’s what happened this morning)!
