Taking Time To Relax Is Important

Taking time to relax is vital in maintaining your positive mental health. Relaxing releases your body’s feel-good hormones—serotonin, prolactin, and oxytocin—and lowers the stress hormone, cortisol. By incorporating moments of relaxation throughout your day, you will find a happier, healthier you.

Taking Time To RelaxToday I’m sharing with you how I’ve been relaxing my body and mind this week:

Listening to Mark Bowden’s Stress Relief Hypnosis download – hypnotherapy has been shown in clinical studies to reduce stress and promote mental health.  I’ve only been listening to Mark Bowden for two weeks but his soothing voice is really helping to focus my mind and relieve my day to day stress.

Reading a book in the sun – reading stimulates my imagination and helps me to relax. I’m enjoying Karen Slaughter’s emotionally complex thriller The Kept Woman.

Watching Game of Thrones – I’m on season 6 and loving it! It enables me to switch off from reality for a while and escape into a world of political manipulation, violence, love, sex and complex characters.

    Good tips, it’s good to take a moment to make yourself happy even with simple things. For me it’s reading, I’m enjoying getting back into reading once again x

  2. I’ve been reading Me Before You – it’s a real tear jerker. Reading is the easiest way for me to relax and switch off.

  3. This is so true! I really try to take time for myself but with three kids and a business to run it becomes nigh impossible!

    I love GoT but I must admit I don’t find it relaxing. I get that it takes you from reality but it sets my mind racing and almost an adrenalin because it is so good. A good book always wins with me.

    I love reading a book to help me switch off, if I can do it in the sun then all the better but I struggle with that considering typical British weather!

    I exercise. The endorphins released with exercise help me relax, feel happy, and mean I can eat more. 😉

    I love reading on the bus because it just transports me away to their world, I’ve watched the entire new season of The Originals on Netflix and I actually find blasting music at top volume on the radio or my phone relaxes me as well.

    i read a book in june, i was so happy I had read it, I couldn’t tell you a thing about it I gave up reading last year I have tried several times to real the latest part of the outlander series its been sat for 9 months now as by the time i get to the end of the page i cant remember whats happened and then it doesnt make sense, im gutted but reading is now an upsetting past time so i have given up on it, I do still get out from time to time with my camera jsut half hour somewhere interesting and Im chilled if sore from holding the thing but yip my photography is my relaxation

  21. Reading definitely is my stress reliever, and tv for that matter. Not so much GOT because that keeps me on the edge of my seat lol.
