I’ve been nominated for the Liebster blog award 🙂 It is an award that bloggers give to other bloggers; it’s a way of saying I love what you’re doing. Thank you so much Steph http://stephwenburg.com/ for nominating me. I’m overjoyed that people enjoy my blog.
Here are Steph’s questions for me:
What is your favorite color?
My favourite colour is purple, I love all shades of it, from lilac to plum. The feature wall in my bedroom is painted plum and my duvet and curtains are aubergine; it is my sanctuary, a place where I relax and find peace. The butterfly is embraced as a symbol of Fibromyalgia awareness – just when the caterpillar thought its life was over it turned into a beautiful butterfly, I think it’s such a positive symbol for life with chronic pain. I have purple butterflies hanging in my bedroom and a purple butterfly photo frame. I’m sure I will be adding to my collection soon.
What is one room in your dream house you would love to have right now?
If I won the lottery I would love to have my own library, it would be filled with books, comfy chairs, bean bags and soft lighting. I’m an avid reader, I enjoy reading the classics and also modern novels. Nothing beats snuggling on the sofa with one of my cats, a good thriller and a bar of chocolate.
What are you currently reading?
I’m reading ‘An Evil Mind’ by Chris Carter. This novel draws together every element of the psychological thriller, the cat and mouse mind games of the hunter and the hunted are compelling and gripping. Again, Chris Carter’s creation of a character with a pathologically disturbed mind haunts my dreams.
Where do you get the ideas for your blog posts?
My blog is about life with Fibromyalgia – I’m trying to raise awareness about this underfunded and often misunderstood invisible illness. I’m inspired by life and the people I meet – I love looking through recipe books, lifestyle blogs, YouTube videos and talking to other Fibro warriors. I am acquiring new skills as I challenge myself each week to learn to bake, cook and make homemade gifts.
What is the best advice you can give your fellow bloggers about how to get new subscribers?
Use social media to promote your blog – Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumbler and Bloglovin. Engage with your readers – they are the most important people.
Do you belong to any writers’ or bloggers’ associations and, if so, which ones?
I don’t belong to any of these associations as I’m new to blogging and it’s my personal story that I hope inspires others and raises awareness about what it is like to live with Fibromyalgia.
Who is your favorite musician?
This may surprise many people but my favourite musician is Eminem. He is talented, entertaining and funny. My favourite song is ‘Lose Yourself’; the opening lines inspire me:
‘Look, if you had, one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted. In one moment
Would you capture it, or just let it slip?’
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I think that Jaws is the scariest movie ever made! (You can stop laughing now!)
Who is your dream dinner party guest?
Oscar Wilde! He is the wittiest man that has ever lived. These are some of my favourites:
- Work is the curse of the drinking classes.
- It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious.
- There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.
- The only thing to do with good advice is pass it on. It is never any use to oneself.
- My own business always bores me to death; I prefer other people’s.
- Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go.
- There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.
- Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination.
- How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insists on treating her as if she were a perfectly normal human being?
- All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That’s his.
- Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.
Where do you see yourself in 50 years?
50 years? I would be 91 if I lived that long! I will most likely be with my loving mum and my grandparents, united again.
What does a normal day in your life look like?
A work day begins at 5.33am when my alarm rudely interrupts my sleep. I’m usually in work by 7 and school lessons begin at 8.30 (I’m a secondary school English teacher). The school day passes quickly – teaching (the best part of my job), marking, planning, paperwork and meetings. I arrive home around 6pm, exhausted and hungry. Dinner, more school work, catch up with friends, TV and bed. That’s a pretty normal boring day in my life.
