Baked apple and cinnamon slices

plate-decoration-560922_640

Snacking helps keep me from getting too hungry on busy school days when the marking is piling up and lessons need planning.  Unfortunately, I don’t always reach for a healthy snack. I’m trying to change my bad habits and instead eat a small healthy snack to tide me over until dinner time.  Baked apple and cinnamon slices are a healthy snack alternative to chocolate and crisps.  They are really delicious and  so easy to make.

Ingredients

2 -3 apples, sliced thinly (remove the cores)

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp of sugar or sweetener

Method

Preheat the oven to 120C/100C in fan oven

Place your thinly sliced apple in a bowl and sprinkle with the sugar and cinnamon. Gently toss with your hands to coat the apple slices.

Lay them flat on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and pop in the oven. Bake for approximately 1 ½ hours, turning halfway through. Cook until the apples have dried out and are light golden colour.

Once done leave to cool completely in the oven for about an hour. This will make them crispier!

These apple and cinnamon slices will last up to a week in an airtight container, so next time you reach for a treat go for the healthy option.  They are seriously yummy!
