Marinated Chilli and Lime Tuna Steaks

Tuna is rich in omega-3 fatty acids that can help to protect against heart disease. These marinated chilli and lime tuna steaks are a quick, tasty and healthy meal.

Ingredients

2 tuna steaks

Pepper for seasoning

1 tbs olive oil

Marinade

juice of 1 lime

chilli flakes

1 tsp of coriander

1 clove of garlic

Method

Make the marinade in a bowl by combining the juice of 1 lime, the chilli flakes, 1 teaspoon of coriander and 1 clove of garlic.

Place the tuna steaks in the marinade and turn to coat. Marinate for at least 30 minutes in the fridge.

Heat a cast-iron griddle pan. Brush the tuna steaks with the oil and season with freshly ground black pepper. Cook for 2-3 mins on each side until the steaks are cooked to your liking. Do not overcook.

The marinated chilli and lime tuna steaks are delicious served with salad.

Keep smiling :)

The chilli and lime goes well with the tuna to flavour it. Great combination of ingredients.

Sounds gorgeous! I only ever tried tuna steaks once, in Sardinia. I’ve never seen them for sale where I live, unfortunately.

You really will not be surprised to learn from me that I don’t like tuna, I have tried a few times, but my husband does and would love this. I could do tuna for him and use chicken for my part c

Still have never made tried making a tuna steak myself but this recipe does look lovely. I actually find it really hard to find good meat in the supermarkets in France and the butcher’s is so expensive 😦

If in a hurry this also works well. Just pan fry tuna. I use coconut oil the for the last minute or so add teaspoon of chilli jelly (or chilli dipping sauce) and stir round flipping the tuna over. This gives a nice sticky tasty tuna steak.

  26. I always overcook tuna steaks because I’m so afraid of undercooking it! Tuna steaks with fresh arugula salad is one of my most favorite things to eat (even when I make it too dry)!!!
